Sgraffito Pottery
The Sgraffito Pottery line is a selection of black and tan functional ware decorated with a continually changing array of elegant botanical motifs, geometric patterns and stories. The decorative work is accomplished by using the traditional sgraffito technique, where a light clay body is layered with a black slip—a colored liquid clay. When the piece is half dry, "leather–hard," the images are sketched and carved onto each piece freehand. All of Katherine's pottery is finished with a transparent glaze and is dishwasher and microwave safe.
The Gallery below shows many examples of work produced in the Sgraffito Pottery line, however it is not a comprehensive display. The forms and the decorative imagery are continually changing.
